Quickstart — 5 minutes from sign-up to tracking

This is the fastest possible path. Assumes you have a Google account (for GA4 sign-in) and admin access to your website.

1. Create your TagEasy account

Sign up at /register with email + password, or click Sign in with Google to skip credentials.

First sign-in auto-creates a personal organization on the Free plan (1 website, 10K events / month — enough to prove tracking works before you upgrade).

2. Add your website

  1. From the dashboard, click + Add Website
  2. Enter your domain (e.g., mystore.com)
  3. Pick your platform — we auto-detect Shopify, WordPress, Webflow when we can
  4. Click Continue

TagEasy creates a configuration record and opens the setup wizard at Step 1 of 6. You can leave at any point and resume later — progress is saved automatically.

3. Setup (Step 1)

The first step combines site identity + Google connection on a single card. Confirm your name, domain, and industry, then click Connect Google to OAuth into your Google account. One consent screen requests both analytics.readonly and tagmanager.publish scopes, so you don't bounce out twice. Pick a GA4 property and a GTM container, or skip and add them later from the dashboard. We never write to GA4 — only read for reporting.

4. Goals (Step 2)

Plain-English goal checkboxes — they drive the rest of the flow. Picking an e-commerce goal makes step 4 (E-commerce) appear; picking only blog/SaaS goals lets the wizard skip steps 3 and 4 entirely.

  • Follow my online store funnel (cart → checkout → purchase)
  • Retarget visitors with Facebook ads
  • Run Google Ads conversion tracking
  • Track form submissions / leads
  • Know what content people actually read

There's an Advanced toggle if you want to see the raw event names (view_item, add_to_cart, etc.).

5. Quick start templates (Step 3, optional)

Pre-built event templates for your platform appear, pre-selected based on your goals. Click Apply Selected to create the matching events, or use the explicit Skip — I'll add events later link to manage events from the Events tab in the dashboard, which has a richer editor.

6. E-commerce + Review & Generate (Steps 4–5)

If you enabled an e-commerce goal, step 4 confirms platform-specific events (Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, or custom). Step 5 is the full review — clicking Generate & Continue builds your GTM container, dataLayer code, and any conversion-pixel snippets.

7. Install (Step 6)

The final step hands you the install snippet with real IDs — no placeholders. Paste it into your <head> and right after the opening <body> tag. Platform-specific instructions: Shopify · WordPress · WooCommerce · BigCommerce · Webflow · Custom / headless.

Once your site loads the snippet, this step flips to a green Snippet detected ✓ indicator confirming TagEasy first saw your site. After your GTM container is published, events start flowing.

8. Verify it's firing

Visit your Health page — for each event we show an OK / WARN / BROKEN badge based on the verification script you embedded. Status updates daily. Read more at Health monitoring.
